According to a study by The Pennsylvania State University, for every coal mining job, there are 11 other jobs created, accounting for approximately 4800 jobs as a result of the Powhatan No. 6 Mine. Those other jobs represent the people who provide goods and services to Ohio Valley and the people who work at the mine. The Powhatan No. 6 Mine produces approximately 5 million tons of clean coal annually, at very competitive prices, providing low-cost electricity for the area's residents, industries, merchants, schools and hospitals.
